Juvenile Streak-headed Woodcreeper

The Story

I photographed this juvenile Streak-headed Woodcreeper (Lepidocolaptes souleyetii) at Entreaguas Reserva Natural, near Coello in Ibagué, Tolima, Colombia. The species is found from Mexico through Central America to Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Guyana, Brazil and Trinidad. It usually nests in tree cavities, natural or dug by woodpeckers, and in Colombia it breeds from April to October. Its diet is mostly arthropods that do not fly. It is considered common through most of its range. It forages singly or in pairs at all levels of the forest, hitching up trunks and branches. IUCN lists it as Least Concern.

I used a Canon R5 with the RF 800mm f/11 for this one, at 1/180 sec, f/11, ISO 3200. Entreaguas, in the Coello–Cocora area of Ibagué, offers ecological walks and birdwatching tours.
