Yellow-throated Chlorospingus

The Story

I photographed this Yellow-throated Chlorospingus (Chlorospingus flavigularis) along the Trampolín de la Muerte, the mountain road above Mocoa, Putumayo, Colombia. It is found in Panama, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru, and on the eastern Andean slope its range continues south through Ecuador and into Peru. Its flight feathers are dusky with dull yellow edges. It forages in pairs or groups of up to about 12 and often joins mixed-species flocks. Its nest is a cup of moss woven with ferns, twigs and rootlets. IUCN lists it as Least Concern.

I made this frame with a Canon R5 and the RF 800mm f/11, at 1/350 sec, f/11, ISO 6400. The road averages about 18 curves per kilometer as it drops from the Andes toward the Amazonian foothills around Mocoa.
