The Story
I photographed this Wattled Jacana (Jacana jacana) at Parque Ecotemático Wisirare, near Orocué, Casanare, Colombia. It is found through much of South America east of the Andes, as well as western Panama and Trinidad. As in most jacanas, the female is larger than the male and may have up to four or five mates at once. The male incubates the eggs, holding them between his wings and breast. IUCN lists it as Least Concern.
I used a Canon R5 with the RF 800mm f/11 plus the RF 2x extender for this one, at 1/180 sec, f/22, ISO 3200, +0.5 EV. Wisirare means good land in the Sáliba language, and the park is a recognized bird conservation area where more than 189 bird species have been recorded.
