The Story
I photographed this Rufous-tailed Jacamar (Galbula ruficauda) at Parque Ecotemático Wisirare, near Orocué, Casanare, Colombia. It lives in a range of dry or moist woodland and scrub. Males have a white throat and females a buff one, and females also tend to be paler below. Its call is a sharp pee-op, and its song is a high, thin series of notes that ends in a trill. This species is a resident breeder. IUCN lists it as Least Concern.
I used a Canon R5 with the RF 800mm f/11 for this one, at 1/90 sec, f/11, ISO 1600. Wisirare means good land in the Sáliba language, and the park is a recognized bird conservation area where more than 189 bird species have been recorded.
