La historia
This Great Crested Flycatcher (Myiarchus crinitus) perched beside a glossy leaf near Capurganá, in Chocó, Colombia, its cinnamon tail and wing edging showing against a blur of tropical leaves. It breeds across the eastern and midwestern parts of North America and migrates to Mexico, the coasts of Central America and South America. It lives mostly in the treetops, rarely coming to the ground, and it is the most widespread Myiarchus flycatcher in North America. IUCN lists it as Least Concern.
I used a Canon R5 with the RF 800mm f/11 plus the RF 1.4x extender for this one, at 1/180 sec, f/16, ISO 3200. Capurganá can be reached only by boat or small plane, and it has no cars, which keeps the village and its forest edges quiet for birds like this one.
