La historia
This young Silver-beaked Tanager (Ramphocelus carbo) sat quietly in the Mocagua Indigenous community, a Ticuna resguardo beside Amacayacu National Natural Park in Amazonas, Colombia, its feathers still the brownish red of a juvenile rather than the deep crimson-black of an adult male. Young birds look like adult females, which have a dark rusty-red head and back. Where its diet has been studied, it eats about equal amounts of plant and animal food, mostly fruit and arthropods. IUCN lists it as Least Concern.
I made this frame with a Canon R5 and the RF 800mm f/11 plus the RF 1.4x extender, at 1/60 sec, f/16, ISO 3200, −0,5 EV. Mocagua’s Ticuna community runs guided ecotourism next to Amacayacu National Natural Park, so visits like mine help support the people who protect this forest.
