The Story
I photographed this Tennessee Warbler (Leiothlypis peregrina) in the Cincinati area above Minca, in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Magdalena, Colombia, in February. It breeds across much of Canada and the northern United States and winters in southern Central America, the Caribbean and northern Colombia and Venezuela. Its species name, peregrina, comes from the Latin for wanderer. It feeds mainly on insects but also takes flower nectar, fruit and some seeds, creeping along branches at every level as it forages. IUCN lists it as Least Concern.
I used a Canon R5 with the RF 800mm f/11 for this one, at 1/350 sec, f/11, ISO 6400, −0.5 EV. These mountains rise from the Caribbean coast to 5,700 meters, apart from the Andes, and they are the source of 36 rivers.
