Plain-colored Tanager

The Story

I photographed this Plain-colored Tanager (Tangara inornata) at Finca Ecoturística San Javier, in the vereda Chucuní near Ibagué, Tolima, Colombia. It is found only in Costa Rica, Panama and Colombia. Its natural habitats are humid lowland forest and heavily degraded former forest. It belongs to the tanager family, Thraupidae. IUCN lists it as Least Concern. Ibagué is the capital of Tolima, on the central range of the Colombian Andes near Nevado del Tolima.

I made this frame with a Canon R5 and the RF 800mm f/11, at 1/90 sec, f/11, ISO 3200, +1.5 EV. Finca San Javier began as a pig farm in 1997 and turned to ecotourism in 2017, and today it offers guided birding and aims to help conserve the tropical dry forest around it.
