Panama Flycatcher

La historia

I photographed this Panama Flycatcher (Myiarchus panamensis) at the Hacienda El Triunfo Private Nature Reserve, near Honda, Tolima, Colombia, in octubre de 2019. In Colombia it reaches the upper Magdalena River valley and lives only up to about 800 meters. It lives in dry forest, gallery forest, secondary forest and pastures with scattered shrubs. It eats insects and small fruit, usually sallying from a perch to catch prey in mid-air. Males and females look alike, grayish olive above with a gray throat and a yellow belly. IUCN lists it as Least Concern, with a stable population.

I made this frame with a Pentax K-1 and the HD Pentax-D FA 150-450mm f/4.5-5.6, at 1/250 sec, f/5.6, ISO 400. It is considered common in Colombia and occurs in a few protected areas there.
