Blackburnian Warbler

La historia

I photographed this Blackburnian Warbler (Setophaga fusca) near Pajarito, in southeastern Boyacá, Colombia, at about 1,335 meters, in February. It breeds in eastern North America and winters in southern Central America and South America, mainly in montane forest between about 600 and 2,500 meters from Colombia to Peru. Its common name honors Anna Blackburne, an English botanist. It is mostly insectivorous, but it adds berries to its diet in winter. During migration it often joins mixed foraging flocks. IUCN lists it as Least Concern.

I photographed it with a Canon R5 and the RF 800mm f/11, at 1/180 sec, f/11, ISO 6400, −0,5 EV. Pajarito lies in southeastern Boyacá on the border with Casanare, and its town center sits in a narrow valley at about 800 meters.
