Palm Tanager

La historia

This Palm Tanager (Thraupis palmarum) perched on a fruiting branch in Restrepo, Meta, Colombia, its olive-green plumage close to the color of the leaves. It is a social, restless bird of semi-open country, farms and gardens that eats a wide variety of small fruit. It usually builds its bulky cup nest in a tree, often a palm, or under the eaves of a house. The female incubates the eggs for about 14 days, and the young leave the nest about 17 days later.

I made this frame with a Canon R5 and the RF 800mm f/11 plus the RF 1.4x extender, at 1/125 sec, f/16, ISO 1600, −0,5 EV. IUCN lists the Palm Tanager as Least Concern, and its comfort around houses and gardens makes it a familiar bird in towns like Restrepo.
